(More customer reviews)I have a huge industrial one just like this, I use it a lot for huge pots of stock but for many things it was way too big. I ordered this smaller version of the same thing and I use it constantly and love it! The size is perfect for daily kitchen use. All my friends borrow it and plan to order one too. It is very sturdy and well made it also washes easily. I use it for stock, removing seeds from cooked fruit and vegies for canning, pies and for making puree or just use as a colander or strainer. It measures from the end of the handle to the end of the strainer 17 1/2'' not including the hook which is another 3/4''. The inside opening of the strainer is 8'' across and the depth top to bottom is 9 1/2''. So even though it is much smaller then I am use too it is not a small strainer it is just the right size. The hook opposite the handle is great to hold this in place over a deep pot or bowl. This is a rigid strainer with no flex so you can use a cone pestle nicely with it. It is a very useful and necessary kitchen tool. A+ quality!
