(More customer reviews)I have been grinding and pour over brewing quality coffee over 35 years. It all started for me in the seventies with a Melitta plastic cone over a canning jar that works nicely.
Two things you must do when using this system: use a finer grind as the water will stay in the cone a little longer as the drain hole is larger and rinse cone and paper with hot water to warm cone as well as wash out paper taste.
Play with water and coffee ratio keeping in mind the brewing should take at least two minutes.
Only grind just what you need immediately before you brew and make sure water is just off boil or at least 205 degrees.
One more thing if you really want a cup that pops, buy 12 or 16 ounce packaged bags from your favorite roaster instead of bulk as you never know how long the coffee has sat unsealed in the big bin. Foil lined sealed bags with an out gassing valve will stay fresh a couple of months even longer if nitrogen flushed.
I can't believe I used a canning jar all those years...sure don't miss grabbing the hot glass,ouch!
